Generations in the Workplace Sponsored by The Home Depot
For the first time in history, four different generations must learn to interact and cooperate effectively with each other in the workplace, each with its own distinct values, attitudes, priorities, and expectations. These generations include the traditionalists or silent generation, the baby boomers, generation X, and generation Y. Influenced by the different eras in which they grew up, these four generations have differing communication and management styles, and varying levels of comfort with today’s technology, which can lead to conflict and misunderstandings, not to mention negative stereotyping. This session will bridge understanding by exploring the varied characteristics of each generation, what we can learn from each other, how to effectively work together, and how successful businesses can leverage each generation to maximize its strengths. It will also explore how to grow the next generation of leaders.
Master of Ceremonies: John Tovar Regional Vice President, Gulf Region The Home Depot
